About microneedling

What is microneedling?

Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses very fine needles to create tiny, controlled channels in the skin. Your skin responds by making new collagen and elastin, which over time can soften the look of acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores and uneven texture. Your aesthetician will look at your skin and goals first, then recommend the right depth and number of sessions.

What to expect

  • A numbing cream is applied first so you stay comfortable.
  • The treatment itself usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Skin is often pink, like a mild sunburn, for a day or two.
  • Many patients do a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart, with results building gradually as collagen forms.

FAQ

Microneedling FAQs

Does microneedling hurt?

Most patients feel light pressure or a mild scratching sensation. We apply numbing cream before treatment to keep you comfortable.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your skin and goals. Many patients choose a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart. We'll recommend a plan at your consultation.

Is there downtime?

Expect redness similar to a mild sunburn for a day or two. Most people return to normal routines quickly and avoid makeup, heavy workouts and sun exposure for a short time afterward.

Who is microneedling not right for?

Microneedling may not be a fit if you have an active skin infection, an acne flare, or are pregnant. Let us know about your skin history and medications so we can make sure it's safe for you.
