The short answer
It depends on why your skin is sagging. If the skin itself has loosened, SkinTyte uses infrared heat to tighten it and stimulate new collagen. If you've lost volume in your cheeks, temples or jawline, Sculptra and dermal fillers restore support from underneath. Most people do best with both, plus BBL with SkinSmooth for skin quality. Mild to moderate laxity responds best; heavy jowls or a lot of loose neck skin may need a surgical consult, and we'll tell you honestly.
Understanding your skin
Sagging happens in layers: the skin, the fat under it and even the bone underneath all change. Knowing which layers are involved tells us which treatments will help.
With age, changes in the skin's connective tissue reduce its strength and elasticity (MedlinePlus).
The fat layer under the skin thins with age, so there's less padding to hold skin up (MedlinePlus).
The midface, eye sockets and the jaw in front of the jowls lose bone in a predictable way with age (Aesthetic Plastic Surgery).
Loose skin is one of the main signs of sun-damaged skin (AAD). Utah's sun and altitude add up over the years.
Skin collagen may drop by as much as 30% in the first five years after menopause (Clinical Interventions in Aging).
Rapid weight loss can cause fat loss under the skin, sunken cheeks and loose skin on the face and neck (Cleveland Clinic).
Know your sagging
Sagging usually comes from two things. Loose skin happens when skin loses its strength and stretch. Volume loss happens when the fat and bone underneath shrink, so the skin has less to drape over (MedlinePlus, Aesthetic Plastic Surgery). Most people have some of both, which is why we usually combine treatments.
Loose skin (laxity)
Volume loss
What you notice
Crepey or lax skin, a softer jawline, loose neck skin
Hollow cheeks or temples, a flatter midface, deeper folds
Main cause
Collagen and elastin loss, sun damage, menopause
Fat and bone loss with age or weight loss
How results show up
Gradually, over about 2–6 months as new collagen forms (AAD)
Sculptra builds over 4–6 weeks (Cleveland Clinic); hyaluronic acid fillers last about 6–12 months (Cleveland Clinic)
Heavy jowls, deep folds or a lot of loose neck skin are where a facelift or neck lift can do more than any in-office treatment. If that's you, we'll say so.
Your options
We match the treatment to the layer that's changed. Here's what each option does best, with evidence from leading medical sources.
Best for: mild to moderate laxity on the jawline, neck and body
Infrared light heats the deeper skin to contract collagen and trigger new collagen growth. Infrared devices have improved skin laxity and face and neck contours, though results vary (Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics).
Best for: gradual lift and support in the cheeks, temples and jawline
A poly-L-lactic acid collagen stimulator, FDA-approved for facial wrinkles and folds (FDA). Results build over weeks and can last more than two years (Cleveland Clinic).
Best for: restoring lost volume and structure right where it's needed
Hyaluronic acid fillers can add volume to sagging skin and usually last six months to a year (Cleveland Clinic). Placed well, they support the face without looking overdone.
Best for: skin quality, sun damage and fine lines
Tighter skin looks best when it's also clear and even. BBL treats spots and redness, and the SkinSmooth step included with every BBL targets fine lines and texture.
Best for: early laxity, texture and fine lines
Microneedling can improve sagging skin, wrinkles and texture, with full results over several months (AAD). PDGF adds growth factors during healing.
Best for: supporting collagen between treatments
Retinoids can help increase collagen, but firming creams alone give subtle results at best (AAD). We'll pair a retinoid with Alastin and daily SPF.

The inside-out approach
Both can. Estrogen helps skin hold collagen and stay elastic, and in early postmenopausal women skin elasticity fell about 1.5% per year, a change not seen in women on hormone therapy (Clinical Interventions in Aging). Rapid weight loss, including with GLP-1 medications, can cause facial hollowing and loose skin, and a Cleveland Clinic endocrinologist recommends aiming for about 1–2 pounds per week (Cleveland Clinic).
Hormone therapy isn't FDA-approved to treat sagging skin, and it isn't right for everyone. But hormones, weight and skin are connected. If you're in perimenopause or losing weight, we'll look at the whole picture, because we start with how you feel.

Protect your results
Sun protection is one of the habits linked to the best skin-tightening results (AAD), and daily sunscreen measurably slows skin aging (Annals of Internal Medicine).
Slower weight loss, enough protein and good skincare help protect your face and skin (Cleveland Clinic).
People who don't smoke and limit alcohol tend to get the best results from skin tightening (AAD).
Heat-based tightening works best for people who are just starting to show signs of aging (Cleveland Clinic). Building collagen early is easier than chasing it later.

Your questions, answered
Can sagging skin be tightened without surgery?
Mild to moderate sagging often can. Nonsurgical tightening works best when sagging is minimal, and results are modest and build over months (AAD). For extensive sagging, surgery gives better results.
When do I need a facelift instead?
If you have significant jowls, deep folds or a lot of loose neck skin, a facelift or neck lift is usually the better answer. Minimally invasive treatments can't achieve the same results, but they may help delay the time a facelift becomes appropriate (ASPS). We'll tell you honestly which group you're in.
Should I get Sculptra or filler for sagging?
Hyaluronic acid fillers add volume where it's placed and usually last six months to a year (Cleveland Clinic). Sculptra works gradually by stimulating collagen and can last more than two years (Cleveland Clinic). Many people benefit from both.
How long do skin tightening results last?
With good skincare, heat-based tightening results may last one to three years, though your skin keeps aging naturally (Cleveland Clinic). Many patients plan maintenance sessions to keep their results.
Can you tighten loose skin after weight loss?
For mild to moderate loose skin, SkinTyte can help on the face, neck, around the eyes and all over the body, like the arms and abdomen. If there's a lot of hanging skin after major weight loss, surgery gives better results for extensive sagging (AAD), and we'll be upfront about that.
