The short answer
It depends on the type of line. Lines that show up when you move, like frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet, respond best to Botox or Dysport. Lines that stay when your face is relaxed usually need volume or collagen support, such as dermal fillers, Sculptra, MOXI laser or microneedling. Most people get the best, most natural results from a combination, plus daily sunscreen and a retinoid at home.
Understanding your skin
Wrinkles usually come from several things at once. Knowing which ones apply to you helps us choose treatments that actually work.
With age, skin becomes less elastic and drier, with less fat and collagen in its deeper layers (Mayo Clinic).
UV light breaks down collagen and elastin and is the biggest outside cause of facial aging, especially in sunny, high-altitude places like Utah.
Every squint, smile and frown creates a small groove. Over years, those lines can become permanent (American Academy of Dermatology).
As estrogen declines in perimenopause and menopause, skin tends to become thinner, drier and less elastic, with more wrinkling (Dermato-Endocrinology).
Smoking greatly speeds up skin aging and causes wrinkles and a dull, sallow complexion (AAD).
The genes you inherit play a big part in how your skin looks and ages (Mayo Clinic).
Know your lines
Dynamic wrinkles are caused by muscle movement and show up when you make an expression. Static wrinkles are visible even when your face is relaxed (Cleveland Clinic). Many people have both, which is why a personalized plan matters.
Dynamic (expression) lines
Static (resting) lines
When you see them
When you frown, squint, smile or raise your brows
Even when your face is completely relaxed
Common areas
Frown lines (11s), forehead lines, crow's feet, bunny lines
Smile lines, lines around the mouth, etched-in forehead or 11s, crepey skin
Main cause
Repeated muscle movement
Collagen, elastin and volume loss, sun damage
Expression lines that go untreated for years can become static lines, which is one reason many patients start Botox before lines are etched in.
Your options
We match the treatment to the cause. Here's what each option does best, with typical results from leading medical sources.
Best for: frown lines, forehead lines, crow's feet
Relaxes the muscles behind expression lines. Botox Cosmetic is FDA-approved for these areas, and results usually last about 3–4 months (Cleveland Clinic).
Best for: static lines, smile lines, folds
Hyaluronic acid fillers are FDA-approved for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (FDA). Results usually last about 6–12 months, and some newer products up to two years (ASPS).
Best for: overall thinning and collagen loss
Stimulates your own collagen, so results appear gradually over a few months and can last more than two years (ASPS).
Best for: early fine lines, texture, dullness
A gentle fractional laser. Laser resurfacing stimulates new collagen for smoother, firmer skin (Cleveland Clinic).
Best for: fine lines, sun damage and dull, uneven skin
Every BBL treatment here includes a SkinSmooth step that targets fine lines and texture. BBL also clears the spots and redness that make skin look older, and healthier, glowier skin naturally shows fewer fine lines.
Best for: fine lines, texture, acne scars
Triggers your skin's healing to make more collagen and elastin, usually in a series 3–8 weeks apart (Cleveland Clinic).
Best for: mild laxity and crepey skin
Gentle heat helps tighten and firm skin on the face and neck, with no downtime.
Best for: skin thinning in perimenopause and menopause
Supports collagen, hydration and skin thickness from the inside out when low estrogen is part of the picture.
Best for: daily prevention and maintenance
Retinoids help smooth fine wrinkles and even discoloration (Mayo Clinic). We'll build a simple routine with Alastin and SPF.

The inside-out approach
They can play a big role. Estrogen helps skin hold on to collagen, moisture and thickness. Research suggests skin collagen may drop by as much as 30% in the first five years after menopause, then about 2% per year, and studies have found estrogen therapy can improve skin hydration, elasticity and thickness (Clinical Interventions in Aging).
Hormone therapy isn't FDA-approved as a wrinkle treatment, and it isn't right for everyone. But if your skin changed along with your sleep, mood or cycles, it's worth looking at the whole picture. That's why at Epiphany Clinic, we start with how you feel.

Protect your results
Use a broad-spectrum, SPF 30 or higher, water-resistant sunscreen (AAD). Daily use measurably slows skin aging (Annals of Internal Medicine).
Vitamin A–based retinoids help smooth fine wrinkles and reduce discoloration (Mayo Clinic). Ask us which strength fits your skin.
Smoking is one of the fastest ways to age skin. Quitting helps your skin and your overall health.
Regular Botox every 3–4 months keeps expression lines from etching in, and a laser or microneedling series keeps collagen building.

Your questions, answered
Should I get Botox or filler for my wrinkles?
Botox or Dysport is best for lines that appear when you move, like frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet. Filler is best for lines and folds that are visible at rest. Many people benefit from both. At your complimentary consultation we'll look at your lines moving and at rest and recommend the right mix.
How long do wrinkle treatments last?
Botox usually lasts about 3–4 months. Hyaluronic acid fillers typically last 6–12 months, and Sculptra can last more than two years. Laser and microneedling results build over weeks as new collagen forms, and stay best with maintenance and daily sunscreen.
Can I treat wrinkles without injections?
Yes. BBL with our SkinSmooth step, MOXI laser, microneedling, SkinTyte and a medical-grade skincare routine with a retinoid and daily SPF can all soften fine lines and improve texture. Deeper expression lines usually respond best to Botox.
At what age should I start treating fine lines?
There's no single right age. Many people start in their late 20s or 30s when expression lines begin to linger. Daily sunscreen, a retinoid and precisely dosed Botox keep lines from etching in.
Does hormone therapy help with wrinkles?
Hormone therapy isn't FDA-approved to treat wrinkles, but research shows estrogen therapy can improve skin hydration, elasticity and thickness after menopause. If you have other symptoms like hot flashes, poor sleep or mood changes, hormone therapy may help how you feel and support your skin.
How much does wrinkle treatment cost in American Fork?
Consultations are complimentary. Botox is $14 per unit, or $12.50 for Beauty Bank members and on your first visit, and Dysport is $12, or $10.50, per Botox-equivalent unit. See our price guide for fillers, lasers and more.
